The CCW Chronicles - Volume 2

It's been a crazy few weeks in the House of Copper Canoe Woman and we're so excited to share what we've been up to!

NEST x HERMÈS

"I was thrilled to be in New York City for @buildanest’s American Craft Convening over October 18 & 19 2024!

It was wonderful getting to know other makers and creatives from across the US and learn best practices in branding, storytelling, and relationship building from the experts at Hermès.

Thank you, NEST and Hermès for the opportunity to learn about how to grow a sustainable heritage brand. There were many validations and many ideas that I brought home and hope to implement.

Giaisixa (Thank you) to Rebecca and the whole nest team and board for inviting me to speak my truth, share my story, and take up space at your Annual Benefit. Giaisixa to the Etsy team for being so encouraging and continuing to support Craft.

I'm always proud to represent who I am as a Haíɫzaqv, NuuChahNulth, and Ahousaht woman! I'm a proud village/rez girl at heart and bring that energy wherever I go. ✨️🤍⚡️"

NEW COLLECTION

"Legacy Lines" is a collection born from the spaces where people, place, and culture meet and meld. Inspired by the teachings of my late grandfather, Robert ‘Gaya’ Hall, who often spoke of how all the shapes in our art are found in nature, this collection builds on the wisdom he and my auntie Connie Newman shared with me. It is a tribute to the ways nature itself shapes our cultural lines and the profound insights woven into each curve and contour.

As I travel and engage with diverse communities, I witness the lines that define us as both barriers and bridges—distinct cultural boundaries that, when fused together, grow even stronger and more dynamic. "Legacy Lines" draws upon these connections, honoring the inherent rights and relationships that come from both our ancestors and the places we call home. From the cosmos to the ocean’s depths, from the animals to the stars, and through the bonds with each other and our relatives, each piece in this collection reflects the fluid, evolving story of our people and our connection to the natural world.

This collection stands on the foundation of knowledge passed down to me—a reverence for people, place, and the organic shapes that echo through our lives and into our art. "Legacy Lines" is both a tribute and an invitation to explore these sacred connections, celebrating the rich diversity and unity found within each line.
